Grammys Introduce New Asian Pop Category for 2027

The Recording Academy has announced a new category for the 2027 Grammy Awards: Best Asian Pop Music Performance. The addition highlights the growing global impact of Asian pop genres, including K-pop, J-pop and C-pop.

According to the organisers, the award will honour outstanding performances that originate from or are widely recognised within Asian markets. Eligible entries must also feature meaningful use of one or more Asian languages.

The new category will debut at the 69th Grammy Awards, scheduled for February 7, 2027. It is one of five new categories being introduced, reflecting broader efforts to diversify recognition across the music industry.
